NAPA celebrates the new academic year 2018-2019

On October 8th, 2018, National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) organized the opening ceremony for the new academic year 2018-2019. Presented in the ceremony were Mr. Le Vinh Tan, Minister of Home Affairs; Vice Ministers of Home Affairs: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trieu Van Cuong, Mrs. Tran Thi Ha, Nguyen Duy Thang; Dr. Dang Xuan Hoan, NAPA President; NAPA Vice Presidents: Dr. Vu Thanh Xuan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Thanh Cuong, Dr. Nguyen Dang Que; Representatives of departments and agencies; NAPA staff, lecturers and students. Attending the opening ceremony were also representatives from central agencies; Office of Government; ministries; higher training institutions; foreign missions from Laos, Japan, France, Bangladesh, Indonesia; press agencies.

In the opening speech, Dr. Dang Xuan Hoan, NAPA President emphasized that this academic year is a special year of important changes when NAPA is restructured focusing on research on administrative science, training of public servants, and training of quality human resources for the political system and society.

The increasing number of public servants participating in various training courses, tailored made courses indicates the NAPA’s prestige in human resource training. New graduate training programs are introduced to meet the increasing training needs in economics, law, finance, policy. NAPA also organizes international training programs for public servants from other countries in the region.

NAPA hosted many international and domestic seminars, workshops, forums to serve its research, training, consultancy on the rule-of-law, an enabling, serving and acting government. These events attracted many international and domestic scholars and practitioners, contributing to the administrative reform and management practice in the context of the 4th industrial revolution in Vietnam.

Dr. Dang Xuan Hoan stated that NAPA will strengthening its civil service training to meet civil service job standards as well as improve the competency of NAPA lecturers and staff to adapt with the new context.

Dr. Le Vinh Tan, Minister of Home Affairs appreciated NAPA’s achievements and contribution to the training of high quality human resources for the country. He mentioned that enhancing competency of public officials is an important task of the public institutions at all levels and NAPA plays an important role in the training of public officials, especially training of those public managers at strategic positions. He requested that NAPA should promote its national leading status in training public officials in public administration knowledge and skills, leadership and management and become the training center of leadership and management in the region. In addition, NAPA is recommended to extend its international cooperation with other countries and international organizations to exchange best practice of public management and civil service.

At the ceremony, Dr. Le Vinh Tan played the drum to celebrate the opening of a new academic year 2018-2019, showing his strong belief that NAPA will accomplish its mandate with excellence.
