Closing ceremony of the English for Working in International Settings and the English for Effective Engagement in the Public Administration Reform and International Integration courses for public officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs

On September 13, 2024, the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) organized the closing ceremony for the English for Working in International Settings and the English for Effective Engagement in the Public Administration Reform and International Integration courses for public officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA). The closing ceremony was held both in-person and online at various locations.

Attending the ceremony were Dr. Lai Duc Vuong, NAPA Vice President; Ms. Phạm Thi Thanh Nham, Executive Director of the HAVINA Teacher Academy; representatives of NAPA units; lecturers, and participants of the training course.

At the ceremony, Ms. Chu Thi Huong Giang, Deputy Head of the Planning and General Affairs Division, Department of International Cooperation, representing the organizing committee of the course, presented the summary report of the training courses.

The English for working in international settings and the English for effective engagement in the public administration reform and international integration courses had 43 public officials of MoHA units as participants.

During the training course, participants were provided with knowledge and skills on how to communicate with partners in English, practice work skills, engage in meetings with international partners, draft administrative documents in English, search for materials, and understand models of public administration. They also practiced applying English in researching administrative reform in both the public and international sectors, providing public services to international clients, and other useful skills.

In addition, participants had the opportunity to attend seminars and international discussions to gain practical experience from international experts. For example, they attended a Women in African Public Administration Network (WAPAN) Women Leadership Programme webinar themed “Gender-Responsive Budgeting: Promoting Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment”, sponsored by the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM), as well as the online seminar “Data2Policy” organized by GIZ.

At the end of the course, 43 participants were granted certificates of course completion by the NAPA President.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Lai Duc Vuong, NAPA Vice President, congratulated the success of the training courses and praised the organizing committee for their excellent work in organizing the courses. He also expressed his desire for the English for working in international settings and the English for effective engagement in the public administration reform and international integration courses to be held more frequently. He emphasized the need to continuously improve teaching methods and update course content to enhance the skills of public officials, aligning with the vision and mission of NAPA and the public administration sector in general during the digital transformation process, to meet the demands of international integration.

Speaking on behalf of the training courses, participant Nguyen Thuy Linh expressed her most sincere thanks and gratitude to the lecturers for their dedication during the course. She highly valued the quality of the course and the practical applications that the participants could apply in their work. Additionally, she provided constructive feedback to improve the quality of future courses. The knowledge and skills acquired during the training are invaluable assets for all participants, helping them to continue working, contributing, and applying these lessons in the most effective way to bring success in their jobs.
