On June 15, 2022, in Ha Noi, Dr. Nguyen Dang Que, NAPA Executive Vice President, had a working session with the delegation of Chandler Institute of Governance, Singapore. The delegation was led by Mr. Kenneth Sim – Dean of Chandler Academy of Governance (CAG) and Deputy Executive Director of Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG).

Attending the meeting were Ms. Pham Thi Quynh Hoa, Director, International Cooperation Department (ICD); Mr. Tong Dang Hung, Deputy Director, Department of Refresher Training Management; Mr. Le Hoang Anh, Deputy Director, Department of Personnel and Organization; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc, Deputy Director, ICD, as well as ICD staff and members of the CAG delegation.

At the meeting, on the basis of agreements at the online working session on March 23, 2022, the two sides exchanged and clarified cooperation contents, especially the content on the organization of training programs for Vietnamese public leaders and managers at provincial levels. Dr. Nguyen Dang Que said that NAPA had fully reported to Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra on the coordination of training programs and received her full support and appreciation. Through the results of the Roundtable seminar on the morning of June 15, NAPA proposed that the CIG research, edit, and supplement the content of the training programs to be suitable and aligned to the practical needs of the Vietnamese public leaders and managers.

At the meeting, the two sides also discussed the implementation of the project “Developing the competency of NAPA staff in using case studies to train public leaders and managers” in the next phase based on the achieved results, and at the same time, continue to develop the Modern and Effective National Governance Programme for Emerging Leaders (MENGPEL). NAPA has always determined that the effective implementation of projects and programs will play an important role in improving the quality of NAPA training. Dr. Nguyen Dang Que wished that the CIG and Mr. Kenneth Sim continue to support NAPA going forward.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Kenneth Sim expressed his gratitude for the NAPA’s warm welcome during the CIG visit to Viet Nam. Mr. Kenneth Sim reaffirmed its commitment to cooperate with NAPA in organizing training courses to improve the competency of public leaders and managers, meeting the requirements of modern and effective national governance. Mr. Kenneth Sim expressed his willingness to develop and implement MENGPEL as well as the project “Developing the competency of NAPA staff in using case studies to train public leaders and managers”. After the visit to NAPA, CIG will develop appropriate training content to meet the needs and ensure the effectiveness of the cooperation content between the two sides.

The working session ended well in the afternoon of the same day, forging the cooperation relationship between NAPA and CIG with high efficiency and sustainability and bringing many practical meanings.
