Training Workshop on Critical Thinking and Creativity Skills for Public Servants of the Ministry of Home Affairs

On June 20-21, 2024, the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), in collaboration with the Department of Personnel and Organization – Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), organized a training workshop on “Critical Thinking and Creativity Skills in the Workplace” for the MoHA public servants at NAPA – Ho Chi Minh City Campus. The goal is to enhance the exchange of practical experiences, address issues encountered during implementation, and share practical lessons on critical and creative thinking skills in solving tasks.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien, NAPA President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hau, Chief of Office of NAPA; Dr. Nguyen Duy Duan, Director, Department of Planning and Finance; Training lecturer Dr. Vu Huu Kien, Senior Lecturer of the International Labour Organization (ILO), along with leaders and officials from MoHA units.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trieu Van Cuong, Vice Minister of Home Affairs, emphasized, “Training administrative skills for public servants is a regular and significant task, positively improving the professional level, working capacity, quality, and efficiency of public servants.” For many years, MoHA has identified that training public servants in the current period requires not only a clear understanding of professional knowledge, skills, and expertise but also the ability to apply these knowledge and skills flexibly and effectively in practice. In addition, to meet the demands of administrative reform and international integration, the training of public service skills for public servants need groundbreaking changes, building a contingent of public servants who are both morally sound and professionally competent, capable of meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation. Critical and creative thinking skills in solving tasks play a very important role in the organization and activities of state agencies and the performance of duties by the MoHA public servants.

Dr. Vu Huu Kien covered two topics at the workshop: Topic 1 “Creative Thinking Skills,” and Topic 2, “Critical Thinking Skills.” The positive discussions and exchanges with the participants created a lively and close atmosphere between the attendees and the speaker, contributing to the success of the training workshop.

At the training workshop, the participants, with a receptive attitude, grasped the necessary knowledge to apply in their respective agencies and units. They actively exchanged information to resolve issues related to the topics of critical and creative thinking skills in solving work-related tasks in the context of their duties.
