National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) delegation led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Van Hanh, NAPA Vice President visited Australia from November 8th to November 13th, 2016 The visit aimed to exchange experience and develop cooperation plans with Australian partners in training program for Vietnamese middle and high ranking officials and position-based training at NAPA.
On November 10th, 2016, NAPA delegation visited Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University, a reputatous school in teaching and researching public policy in Australia. The training programs of the school aim to develop top human resources, leaders, and policy makers for Australia as well as other countries in the region. At the reception, NAPA and Crawford school developed a draft cooperation agreement and discussed potential cooperative activities to support the development of short-term training programs for senior civil servants at NAPA, focusing on practice orientation and international integration. The cooperation activities could be as follows: Crawford will send their professionals to support NAPA in developing curricula for short course training programs or to deliver lectures at NAPA; NAPA will send their lecturers to Australia to develop capacity in designing curriculum and coursebook, teaching and researching; conduct joint research on administrative reform and public policy. Both institutions will actively seek funding sources as well as support from international partners in order to implement cooperation activities.
During the trip, NAPA delegation also visited RMIT University on November 11th, 2016. Mr. Damien Thomas, Director of Industry Business Development of RMIT received the delegation on behalf of RMIT leadership. He shared experience in developing skill training programs for senior civil servants, focusing on customer orientation and also wished to cooperate with NAPA in this particular field. After the reception, NAPA delegation had the opportunity to meet a group of civil servants from Ho Chi Minh city participating in the short training course on public administration at RMIT University.
