On December 25th 2018, National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) organized a conference on training evaluation of courses on leadership and management for public managers and courses on teaching skills for public administration lecturers in the year 2018 and training plan for 2019. Dr. Dang Xuan Hoan, NAPA President and Dr. Vu Thanh Xuan, NAPA Vice President co-chaired the seminar.
Presented in the seminar were Mr. Tran Trung Kien, Deputy Director, Department of Training of Civil Servants, Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA); representatives from MOHA; Dr. Nguyen Dang Que, NAPA Vice President; NAPA staff and lecturers.
Giving a speech at the seminar, Dr. Dang Xuan Hoan, NAPA President emphasized that training of civil servants in general and training on leadership and management for public managers and training of public administration lecturers are the core activities of NAPA, which contribute to the reputation of the institution. In 2018, NAPA achieved a significant increase in training courses for civil servants in general and public managers in particular. He requested active discussion among the participants to provide inputs for development of the training program for vice ministers level in the coming time.
Mr. Tong Dang Hung, Deputy Director, Department of Refresher Training Management reportedin the year 2018 NAPA organized 65 training courses, trained 2931 students. He also proposed solutions and recommendations to improve the efficiency of training on leadership, management, and teaching skills in 2019 and the coming years. At the conference, representatives from MOHA, NAPA discussed actively how to improve training activities of NAPA.
In the concluding remark, Dr. Vu Thanh Xuan, NAPA Vice President expressed his appreciation to participants for their discussion and ideas in the conference. He emphasized NAPA needs to focus on the following tasks: (1) Development of short-term and long-term plans for training in general and training courses for public managers and for public administration lecturers; (2) Completion of the regulation on coordination and responsibility of NAPA units involved in training management; (3) Improvement of the training programs for public managers at district, provincial, and levels, training courses for public administration lecturers; and development of a training program for vice ministersandgeneral directors; (5) Enhancing quality of full-time and visiting lecturers; (6) Evaluation of the training quality according to Circular No. 10/2017/TT-BNV by MOHA dated December 29th , 2017 on the quality evaluation of civil servant training
