On September 30, 2024, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee and State President To Lam and a high-ranking delegation of Viet Nam departed for state visits to Mongolia, Ireland, attendance at the 19th Francophonie Summit, followed by an official visit to France.

Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra is honored to be part of the high-ranking delegation of Viet Nam accompanying Party General Secretary and State President To Lam.

The top leader’s state visits once more affirm Viet Nam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of relations, and proactive international integration.

The visits also reflect the importance that the Party and State of Viet Nam attach to the traditional friendship with Mongolia, the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Ireland, and the strategic partnership with France.

From September 30 to October 1, 2024, at the invitation of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and his spouse, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam made a state visit to Mongolia on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Mongolia. During the visit, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam held talks with Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, had meetings with Chairman of Parliament Dashzegviin Amarbayasgalan and Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene, and witnessed the signing of documents between various Vietnamese and Mongolian agencies.

High-ranking leaders of both countries praised the strong and expanding traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Mongolia over the past 70 years. They had in-depth discussions on the future direction of bilateral relations and shared views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The Mongolian side affirmed that they always consider Viet Nam a key partner in Southeast Asia and expressed their desire to expand mutually beneficial cooperation across all fields. Viet Nam underlined that it attaches importance to fostering relations with Mongolia, respecting Mongolia’s peace-loving, open, independent, and multi-pillar foreign policy, including the “Third Neighbor” policy, and hopes to further enhance bilateral ties in the future.

In addition to official programs, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and his entourage visited the Vietnamese Embassy and met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Mongolia. They also visited the Inter-Level School No.14 named after President Ho Chi Minh, met with representatives of outstanding Mongolian economic entities, and participated in the Viet Nam Cultural Day event in Mongolia.

During a meeting with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Mongolia, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam urged the Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia to uphold its responsibility to protect Vietnamese citizens and to promote trade and cooperation across various sectors. He encouraged the Vietnamese community in Mongolia to uphold their spirit of solidarity, strive to grow stronger, and work towards economic and social development, thus improving the well-being of the Vietnamese people in Mongolia despite the challenges in the country.

During this mission, aside from participating in the main activities of the high-level Vietnamese delegation, Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra is scheduled to hold talks with the Ministry of Public Transformation and Service. She will also meet with the National Institute of Public Service (INSP) and the Normandie School of Management (EM Normandie) in France.
