On the morning of September 8, at the headquarters of the Ministry, Vice Minister of Home Affairs (MOHA) Trieu Van Cuong had a meeting and working session with the delegation of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) led by Mr. Greg Leon, Director, Office of Economic Growth and Governance to discuss further steps to implement the project “Strengthening Provincial Capacity” for Vietnamese cadres, civil servants, and public employees in provinces.
Attending the meeting were leaders of MOHA departments including Department for Training of cadres, civil servants, public employees; Department for Legal Affaris; Department for Planning – Finance; Department for International Cooperation; and the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA).
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Minister Trieu Van Cuong expressed his pleasure to welcome and work with the delegation of USAID. Previously, on August 1, 2019, Vice Minister Trieu Van Cuong also had a working meeting with Mr. Michael Greene, Mission Director for USAID Vietnam to discuss engagement in the project “Strengthening Provincial Capacity” at present and in the future to shape the approach to the implementation.
Vice Minister Trieu Van Cuong highly appreciated the recent cooperation between NAPA and USAID in undertaking steps to implement the project “Strengthening Provincial Capacity”.
The USAID-funded project “Strengthening Provincial Capacity” aims to strengthen the capacity and build sustainability of Vietnamese training institutions’ provincial capacity building services so that they can provide high quality services. As planned, there will be involvement of NAPA and other two institutions including Faculty of State Management, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and Start-up Vietnam Foundation.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Greg Leon said, it is the following-up meeting of the working session in 2019 between USAID and MOHA Vietnam. He learnt that MOHA is the agency in charge of state management of the training for cadres, civil servants, and public employees in Vietnam and wished to continue to strengthen the relationship with MOHA in training and strengthening capacity of cadres, civil servants, and public employees.
Concluding the working session, Vice Minister Trieu Van Cuong requested departments and units in the Ministry to continue to study and implement processes and procedures in accordance with the law, consult with the relevant Vietnamese authorities to ensure the legality, compliance, and highest results when implementing the project./.
