NAPA attends the Workshop on Eramus+ opportunities – Strengthening Internationalization of Vietnamese Emerging Universities (STRIVE) Project in Portugal

On June 13 and 14, 2024, within the framework of the “Strengthening Internationalization of Vietnamese Emerging Universities – STRIVE” project, a delegation from the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), led by Assoc. Prof Dr. Nguyen Quoc Suu, NAPA Vice President, attended the second project workshop in Évora, Portugal, hosted by the University of Évora.

This STRIVE project workshop was attended by partner organizations and higher education institutions from Viet Nam, Italy, and Portugal. The workshop focused on clarifying the specific requirements of the European Union for faculty exchange and student exchange (Key Action 1 – KA1) and the implementation of projects aimed at enhancing operational capacity in international cooperation for higher education institutions (Key Action 2). These programs will be reviewed, approved, and funded by the European Union according to regulations.

In his reamarks at the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Suu, NAPA Vice President, emphasized the importance and significance of implementing the project in achieving NAPA’s development goals and strategy from now until 2030, with a vision to 2045. He highlighted that the project would enhance the capacity of staff and lecturers, improve the training quality, and elevate the level of internationalization at NAPA. The implementation of the project also positively contributes to the development and expansion of international cooperation, improves the standards of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and ensures the requirements for the quality assessment and accreditation of higher education institutions.

Also, as part of the working program of the NAPA delegation in Portugal from June 12, 2024, the delegation met and discussed with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Simone Severini, Rector’s Delegate for International Affairs of the University of Tuscia, Italy, on international cooperation. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quoc Suu affirmed the potential and opportunities for cooperation between NAPA and University of Tuscia, particularly the faculty and student exchange program, which has been formalized in a draft Memorandum of Understanding between the two sides. Representing Hanoi University, the project coordinator in Viet Nam, Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao also shared the advantages and challenges in implementing exchange activities and expressed a desire to support the cooperation between the two educational institutions. On the same day, the delegation met and discussed with representatives from the University of Évora. Both sides agreed to seek and expand cooperative relationships and actively promote faculty and student exchange programs. A meeting is scheduled for September in Ha Noi.

In 2023, NAPA was one of the seven organizations and higher education institutions participating in the submission of the STRIVE Project proposal, which was approved by the European Commission and funded through the Erasmus+ Program. The project aims to enhance the capacity for internationalization, targeting the modernization of international cooperation efforts in Vietnamese universities and promoting collaboration and links between European and Vietnamese higher education institutions.

The STRIVE Project, aimed at enhancing internationalization capacity and modernizing international cooperation efforts in Vietnamese universities, while fostering cooperation and links between European and Vietnamese higher education institutions, will be implemented over three years, from 2024 to 2027. In the first half of 2024, NAPA completed the procedures for signing a partnership agreement with AlmaLaurea, Inter-University Consortium, Italy – the international project coordinator; collaborated with other universities to formulate, complete, and publish the project quality plan; and launched the Project website at https://strive-project.eu.
