On March 23, 2022, at NAPA Headquarter in Hanoi, Dr. Nguyen Dang Que, Executive Vice President of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), attended an online working session with the Dean of the Chandler Academy at Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG), Singapore.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Kenneth Sim – Dean of the Chandler Academy of Governance at CIG and his team.
On the side of NAPA, there were Dr. Nguyen Dang Que, NAPA Executive Vice President, as well as representatives of the NAPA Office, Department of Refresher Training Management, Department of Personnel and Organization, and International Cooperation Department.
At the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Dang Que expressed his pleasure to welcome Mr. Kenneth Sim to a bilateral working session between NAPA and CIG. Dr. Nguyen Dang Que emphasized that this working session is an opportunity for the two sides to discuss the cooperation plan for 2022 and the following years.
At the meeting, the following agenda items were addressed by Dr. Nguyen Dang Que:
(1) The implementation of the program “Competency development for strategic emerging leaders to meet the requirements of modern, effective national governance”
Dr. Nguyen Dang Que presented the implementation plan for the training program (expected duration, student enrolment, target audience, location, class size, how to implement the program). He would like to enhance NAPA lecturers’ capacity via the implementation of the program “Competency development for strategic emerging leaders to meet the requirements of modern, effective national governance”.
(2) Project “Strengthening NAPA competency using case studies to train public leaders and managers”
Dr. Nguyen Dang Que reported the project implementation results of phase 1 and presented the project implementation plan for phase 2. He mentioned the possibility of developing the project as the first activity in a comprehensive program for developing NAPA source lecturers as well as selecting lecturers to participate in the program.
(3) The organization of the annual workshops on modern and effective national governance
Dr. Nguyen Dang Que mentioned the organization of the annual workshops on modern, effective governance and hosting the forum as an annual activity of NAPA. He hoped that CIG would support NAPA in organizing other international workshops and seminars.
Regarding the aforementioned issues, Mr. Kenneth Sim expressed his support for NAPA’s proposal as well as clarified and commented on related contents.
NAPA would like to express our appreciation to Mr. Kenneth Sim for his valuable comments and favourable impression of NAPA. Dr. Nguyen Dang Que hoped that NAPA – Vietnam and CIG – Singapore would actively and effectively implement the discussed agenda items, contributing to the quality improvement of training activities for cadres, civil servants, and public employees in the Vietnamese administration.
