Pakistani Ambassador to Viet Nam visiting and working with NAPA

(napa.vn) – On July 6, 2022, Her Excellency Ms. Samina Mehtab – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Viet Nam visited and worked with NAPA leaders. Accompanying the Ambassador was Ms. Taskeen Umar – Deputy Ambassador, Embassy of Pakistan in Viet Nam.

Receiving and working with the Ambassador, on the side of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), there were Dr. Nguyen Dang Que – NAPA Executive Vice President; Dr. Bui Huy Tung, Director of Department of Refresher Training Management; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Hau – Chief of NAPA Office; Ms. Pham Thi Quynh Hoa – Director of International Cooperation Department and some officials of International Cooperation Department.

The objective of the working session is to discuss the continued implementation of cooperation activities between NAPA and Pakistani agencies and training institutions in training and scientific research in the field of public administration, with the support and connection of the Embassy of Pakistan in Viet Nam. With the desire to connect NAPA with Pakistani training academies to exchange lecturers, students, curricula and other professional work, the Ambassador proposed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between NAPA and the National School of Public Policy of Pakistan (NSPP). NSPP plays a key role in the training and capacity building of Pakistani civil servants. At the meeting, the Ambassador wished that NAPA and the Embassy of Pakistan would organize a workshop on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Viet Nam – Pakistan diplomatic relations (November 8, 1972 – November 8, 2022), in order to strengthen cultural exchanges as well as build a stronger friendship and cooperation relationship between the two sides.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Dang Que – NAPA Executive Vice President highly appreciated the significance of the Ambassador’s visit to NAPA as a regular activity of the cooperation between two sides. NAPA Executive Vice President affirmed that NAPA would fully support the Ambassador’s proposal on the organization of a workshop between the two sides in the near future. He also requested the Embassy to support NAPA in (1) strengthening the cooperation with training and research institutions in administrative science in Pakistan in the exchange of lecturers, students and scientific research in administration and (2) connecting with a number of ministries and administrative agencies of Pakistan at central and local levels to conduct research and survey activities for Viet Nam’s leadership and management training program in Pakistan; coordinate with NAPA to exchange and work with representative agencies of the Governments of Pakistan and Viet Nam in expanding and developing cooperation programs as well as seeking resources to support cooperation proposals in the future.

Ambassador Samina Mehtab thanked the very warm and respectful welcome of NAPA as well as the thoughtful preparation for the working session. The Ambassador shared about the orientation of economic reform and public administration reform in Pakistan, specifically the activities of the NSPP. Reforms regarding the institution and training of senior officials are extremely important in the administrative reform of the Government of Pakistan. The Ambassador expressed her wish to receive support from NAPA in training cadres and civil servants and sharing experience in administrative reform in the process of long-term cooperation, thereby achieving the highest efficiency.
