On August 24th 2017, National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) co-organized the seminar “Space Governance: Theory and Practice”
Presented in the seminar were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Kiem Thanh, NAPA Vice President, Professor Vo Chi My, The Vietnam Associational of Geodesy Cartography and Remote Sensing, Professor Pham Hoang Hai, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, NAPA staff and lecturers.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Kiem Thanh emphasized that many new issues appear with the fourth industrial revolution which require improvement of public governance. One of the main issue is space governance. This topic is useful in term of theoretical and practical contribution, especially in the context of promoting E-governance and developing smart cities. The Vice President hoped that the seminar will produce theoretical rationales and solutions for improvement of effective space governance in Vietnam. The seminar is also an opportunity for NAPA lecturers to develop research capacity, teaching capacity in space planning and management in urban and rural areas.
During the seminar, participants actively exchanged ideas and clarify many issues related to space governance. Participants agreed that it is a complex issue which requires a comprehensive, detailed, standard, accurate, synchronic database. In addition, there is a must to follow common principles and legal regulations of general management as well as management by sector, by territory.
At the seminar, participants also shared their experience in development of database for Central Highland and development of Geographic Information System to identify the risk of flash flood in Nang river valley, Bac Kan province.
The seminar “Space Governance: Theory and Practice” promotes academic exchange and sharing experience in space management e between German institutions, universities and NAPA.
