The 2019 Editorial Council Meeting of State Management Review

On January 16th 2019, State Management Review organized The 2019 Editorial Council Meeting of State Management Review at National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), co-chaired by Dr. Dang Xuan Hoan, NAPA President and Assoc. Prof. Dr Dang Khanh Anh, Acting Editor-in-Chief of State Management Review. Presented at the meeting were members of the Editorial Council, NAPA faculties, and staff of State Management Review.

Giving a speech at the Meeting, Dr. Dang Xuan Hoan, chair of the Editorial Council emphasized the  annual publication plan 2019 of the State Management Review. He also requested members of the Editorial Council to contribute ideas to the Review’s  development orientation and the annual publication plan, making the State Management Review reflect both administrative sciences and practice of public management in the new context of NAPA development .

Assoc. Prof. Dr Dang Khac Anh, Acting Editor-in-Chief of State Management Review delivered a report on  publication in 2018 in which 12 issues have been published as scheduled . The content of the issues reflected the latest developments of administrative science and management practices in the country as well as in the world.

In particular, as a research unit and official publication of NAPA, the State Management Review created a forum for NAPA scholars, officials and lecturers to exchange their academic views and  skills.

At the Meeting, members of the Editorial Council and participants shared various ideas and suggestions for improvement of the Review as an academic journal of public administration and management in the new period.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hau, Director of Center for Foreign Languages, Informatics, Information and Library suggested that the State Management Review should  to attract more collaborators who are currently holding leadership and management positions in localities to cover the practice of public management .  Besides, another suggestion was to create a new column on “Comments on legal normative documents”, in which scholars, practitioners, and lecturers can participate in, commenting on the legal documents, drafts of laws and decrees that are attracting public interest.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Quoc Chinh, Vice Dean of Faculty of State Management of Social Affairs suggested that the State Management Review should publish more academic articles on administrative sciences to make it distinct as an academic publication of administrative science.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Hai, Dean of Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Organization – Personnel Management suggested  a new column “Theoretical issues of administrative sciences”, which presents articles on theoretical, academic,  new issues of public administration, public administration and public policy. Besides, other participants also expected  more articles on professional guidance and skills in the refresher training for public servants and teaching administrative sciences.

Regarding Dr. Le Nhu Thanh, former NAPA Permanent Vice President and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Hai, Dean of Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Organization – Personnel Management shared the same ideas that it is an important task to publish an English publication of the State Management Review in the context of international integration.  In the coming time,  one issue in English should be published a year meeting the standards of an internationally ranked academic journal. The State Management Review should extend cooperation with journals of regional and international associations of administrative sciences, learning experience and exchanging research findings.

Giving a closing remark at the Meeting, Dr. Dang Xuan Hoan appreciated all of the ideas and suggestions from members of the Editorial Council.  . He also emphasized that on the occasion of  60th Anniversary of NAPA (May 29th 1959 – May 29th 2019), the State Management Review should communicate this important event, demonstrating its role of research and official publication  of NAPA./.
