The EROPA Executive Council implements work content in 2024

On 8 March 2024, at the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien, NAPA President and Chairman of the 2024 – 2025 EROPA Executive Council, had an online working session with the EROPA Secretariat and members of the EROPA Executive Council.

Attending the meeting were Dr. Alex Brillantes Jr., EROPA Secretary-General; EROPA Secretariat; members of the EROPA Executive Council.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Alex Brillantes Jr. introduced and welcomed new members of the EROPA Executive Council for the 2024 – 2025 term. The EROPA Executive Council includes representatives from state members, group members and individual members. The personnel of the EROPA Executive Council for the 2024 – 2025 term were unanimously elected by the EROPA General Assembly through the 2023 EROPA Conference hosted by NAPA in Ha Noi, Viet Nam, from 16 – 20 October 2023. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien, NAPA President, was elected Chairman of the Executive Council – the person having supervisory responsibility over the execution of decisions of the Council and General Assembly.

In his capacity as Chairman of the EROPA Executive Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien warmly welcomed and thanked the Council members for attending the meeting. He expressed his hope that EROPA member delegates would continue to promote the spirit of close cooperation and high unity from the will to the actions of public administrators, organizations and individuals to enhance capabilities and vigorously promote the development of public administration and governance, paving the way for significant changes for sustainable development for each country and the entire region.

The Council discussed and agreed on several agenda items, including (1) The plan to organize the EROPA Annual Conference in Jakarta, Indonesia, scheduled from 4 – 7 November 2024; (2) The EROPA Future Plans and Programs Committee announcing recent activities and upcoming events of EROPA (posted on the organization’s website – https://www.eropa.co); (3) Asian Review of Public Administration (ARPA)* introducing new publications (posted on the website newsletter) and inviting scholars and researchers to contribute articles and submit papers for upcoming publications; (4) The proposal to establish an EROPA Training Center in Viet Nam.

In discussing the proposal to establish EROPA Training Center in Viet Nam, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien shared his supportive views, expressing confidence and hope that the future EROPA Training Center in Viet Nam would play a crucial role in promoting connectivity, sharing, consolidating, and increasing EROPA’s position and influence regionally and internationally. The Center’s activities will include organizing training courses with a team of reputable and experienced teaching staff from NAPA combined with experts in many fields from Viet Nam and other EROPA state members; expanding coordination and organizing training programs, workshops, and seminars, with the participation of international partners, governments, local governments, agencies, organizations, and units within and outside the public sector.

The operation of the EROPA Training Center will facilitate participation in bidding tasks to implement international programs and projects. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien also proposed locating the Center at the NAPA Headquarters in Ha Noi or the NAPA Branch Campus in Ho Chi Minh City, based on ensuring and taking advantage of infrastructure resources and leveraging intellectual resources and EROPA’s position to contribute more to the organization and its members. This will ultimately promote the development of modern, effective and efficient administration, bringing many good values to the community of EROPA state members, regionally and internationally.

Concluding the meeting, Dr. Alex Brillantes Jr., EROPA Secretary-General, expressed gratitude and wished the members of the Executive Council to continue to promote their roles and contribute to EROPA’s development goals. The exchanges of views and agreements at the Conference had been recorded by the Secretariat and would be proposed for implementation in the upcoming activities of EROPA.
