On March 14th 2023, a virtual meeting for 2023 EROPA Conference preparation was held by NAPA and EROPA Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Ba Chien, NAPA President.

Attending the meeting was Mr. Alex Brillantes Jr, EROPA Secretary-General; Ms. Ainna Comia and other members of EROPA Secretariat; Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Ba Chien, NAPA President; Dr. Nguyen Dang Que, NAPA Vice President; Ms. Pham Thi Quynh Hoa, General Director, Department of International Cooperation; and representatives from NAPA faculties and units.
As an EROPA state member, NAPA is honored to be assigned by the Minister of Home Affairs to host the 67th EROPA Executive Council meeting and the 2023 EROPA annual conference. This important task shows the high appreciation from international and regional partners for the active role of Viet Nam in general, the Ministry of Home Affairs and NAPA in particular in the community of scholars and practitioners of public administration.

Performing the tasks assigned by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Action Program on hosting international conferences and undertaking important positions at international organizations and forums in the Project on promoting multilateral external relations towards 2023 by the Ministry of Home Affairs, NAPA, in coordination with the EROPA Secretariat, has made a preparation plan for 2023 EROPA Conference including the draft for 2023 EROPA Conference Organization Project; the draft for Call for Papers; the Conference checklist; development of committees and sub-committees for the Conference; the draft of regulations on the tasks of the committees and sub-committees, etc.

Based on previous discussions on 2023 EROPA Conference organization between the two sides, NAPA and EROPA Secretariat have agreed on the following issues, specifically:
- The Conference theme: “The Role of Public Governance in Socio-Economic Recovery and Development for Sustainable Development”.
- Deadline for submission of paper abstract and full papers; deadline for participation registration.
- Tentative number of participants: about 500 people (200 local participants and 300 international participants).
- Conference fees.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien suggested that the EROPA Secretariat make an overall program from the experiences of previous conferences in Thailand, Nepal, etc. He also recommended that there should be hot issues on public governance in Viet Nam and sharing of sustainable governance and development from international and regional perspectives included in the conference program. High quality papers that link to Vietnamese practice will be selected by NAPA and EROPA Secretariat as recommendations on policies and actions to the Government and executive agencies in the country to realize the goals of the Conference.

He expected more virtual meeting between the two sides for successful organization of 2023 EROPA Conference which will be held in Hanoi, Viet Nam in October 2023.
